Dachau
Well, today was as I expected....very emotionally difficult. I pray for my kids that a seed was planted by God in their minds as we talked as we walked around....about the way the people held as prisoners and killed were devalued just because of the family they were born into, and in many instances were standing up for what was right. They were each one created in God's image and valuable to Him. So many times in the world we live in, people around us are devalued because of a variety of reasons - things that they can't always help, and I pray that when my kids observe this (especially the 2 in high school next year), that they will remember this day, and boldly stand up for those being treated poorly. It is and always has been a great desire of mine to see my kids grow up with sensitive hearts towards people - and I pray today will be a step towards seeing that desire come to be. Madison in particular was very sad as we were walking through the museum and grounds - I think it shook her up pretty hard. We walked through 3 memorial chapels - so in a sense I guess we did go to church after all! One little note left by a child in one of the chapels got to me - the child wrote "Thank you God for hearing all the cries from all those children".
